3 spreads die ik heb gemaakt voor een opdracht van Chris Vermaas.

De opdracht was om een spread te maken voor een roman, een magazine en een webpagina.

Illustratie Sips

Opdracht:

draw in a mechanical way with edding-marker 3000 or in illustrator(only in black)
so no personal handwriting (than the viewer will focus on content immediatally)
there will be no story, every page must be a thing on it's own.
don't use sayings or expressions, no landscapes or interiors, just the objects !
bring together 2, 3, 4 or 5 objects, things on one page
it's about associations, about comparisons and equations in form or/and content
the changing of meaning of objects while bringing them together
an apple and a tooth-brush is something else than an apple and a snake, or an apple and a mouse. a circle can be a ball, a coin, a sun, a hole...etc, etc.
approach the assignment like a child, as you are observing things for the first time
many objects, things, animals have methaphorical meanings

you could draw many, many things, small scetchings, cut them out and bring them together in different collections, look and think, conclude, develop new ideas, new insights

in the end make a selection of the best pages and make a painting-book out of it
with colored cover
size of the book; H 27 cm. x B 20 cm.
hand over one example for the archive of the Cahiers

deadline; tuesday the 10th of november.
this assignment ain't easy, but while talking things over it will get more clear !
